Legendary Wasim Akram Criticizes Pakistan Cricketers After T20 World Cup Loss To India

Legendary Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram did not hold back in his criticism of the national team following their narrow defeat to India in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, fell short by a mere six runs chasing India’s total of 119, ultimately placing themselves on the brink of elimination from the group stage.

During the post-match analysis, Akram, a key member of the commentary panel for the tournament, expressed his disappointment at the lack of ‘game awareness’ among the Pakistan players, singling out several individuals for their poor performances.

The former cricketer highlighted Mohammad Rizwan‘s dismissal, emphasizing that the batsman failed to recognize Jasprit Bumrah‘s threat and paid the price for his recklessness.

Another player in Akram’s firing line was Iftikhar Ahmed, who, according to the legendary bowler, lacked the versatility and understanding required at the international level.

Akram also touched upon Fakhar Zaman, suggesting that the players’ mindset needed a significant shift as they couldn’t rely on the potential repercussions for underperformance to avoid accountability.

While not naming them directly, Akram shed light on the strained relationship between Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi, implying that their discord was affecting team dynamics.

He called for bold changes within the Pakistan squad, urging a comprehensive revamp to instill a fresh approach and mentality among the players.
