Billund, Denmark — The LEGO Group announced a new partnership with The Pokémon Company on March 18, 2025, to create LEGO building sets based on the beloved Pokémon franchise. Scheduled for release in 2026, these sets promise to bring iconic characters and scenes to life in a fresh, interactive way.

LEGO and Pokémon will work together to provide fans with the opportunity to build and engage with their favorite Pokémon using LEGO bricks. A teaser image released by LEGO showcased a LEGO version of Pikachu’s tail, hinting at what fans can expect from this collaboration.

“This partnership will introduce Pokémon fans to a new world of building possibilities, allowing them to create cherished Pokémon figures and settings,” the companies stated in their joint announcement. However, specific details regarding the character selection and style of the sets have yet to be revealed.

This collaboration marks a significant move for LEGO, which has expanded its portfolio of licensed games and products by partnering with various popular franchises over the years. The success of LEGO sets based on Nintendo properties suggests that the Pokémon collaboration could see multiple sets producing iconic characters for years to come.

Currently, Pokémon has licensed building sets through Mattel’s Mega Bloks and Mega Construx brands, but it appears that LEGO will take over that business starting next year. The shift comes after over two decades of Mattel producing Pokémon-themed constructions.

Historically, Pokémon fans have been treated to various building experiences, yet many have long awaited a LEGO approach. This long-anticipated move may fill a niche that has remained relatively untouched in the toy market.

“We’re excited to invite all Pokémon Trainers to prepare for building and catching their favorite Pokémon starting in 2026,” LEGO’s announcement emphasized. As anticipations grow, fans are eager to discover which Pokémon will be included in these new sets.

In the past, LEGO has successfully collaborated with numerous major franchises, making it clear that their involvement with Pokémon could seamlessly blend two beloved worlds. Fans are left wondering about the character lineup and the various Pokémon designs they may be able to create.

As the release date approaches, enthusiasts can expect more information regarding the specific sets to be unveiled. The uniqueness of building Pokémon with LEGO bricks could prove a significant hit among both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
