Levar Burton Trivial Pursuit Game Show

LeVar Burton, a celebrated actor, director, and literacy advocate, is set to host The CW‘s upcoming game show series, “Trivial Pursuit.” Burton is widely recognized for his diverse body of work, including roles in “Roots,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” and the children’s educational program “Reading Rainbow.”

Burton, who has received numerous accolades including seven NAACP Awards, a Peabody, a Grammy, and 15 Emmy Awards, has been a lifelong advocate for literacy. In 2023, he released his first documentary, “The Right to Read,” which portrays the literacy crisis in America as a civil rights issue. This documentary was featured at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and SXSW Edu.

In addition to his work in television and film, Burton is an accomplished author, having penned works such as “Aftermath” and “The Rhino Who Swallowed a Storm,” as well as launching his first book club through Fable, a digital community platform. His efforts to promote storytelling include his partnership with Masterclass and the popular “LeVar Burton Reads” podcast, which is now in its 12th season with over 25 million downloads.

The new iteration of “Trivial Pursuit” will premiere on October 3rd at 9 PM ET on The CW. This reimagined format of the classic trivia game will feature contestants competing on an oversized game board, answering questions across various categories to earn wedges, advance to the center, and ultimately compete for a cash prize.

The production, helmed by Hasbro Entertainment, The CW, Lionsgate Alternative Television, and Talpa Studios, lists David Garfinkle, Gabriel Marano, John De Mol, Matt Walton, and Matt Pritchard as executive producers alongside Burton, who adds hosting duties to his impressive repertoire.
