DETROIT — LiAngelo Ball, the brother of NBA stars LaMelo and Lonzo Ball, took center stage during the Detroit Lions‘ NFC Divisional Round game against the Washington Commanders on Saturday night at Ford Field. Ball performed his viral rap song, “Tweaker,” during a timeout, electrifying the crowd and adding a unique twist to the playoff atmosphere.

The performance came after the Lions clinched the NFC’s No. 1 seed with a Week 18 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Following that win, Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was heard shouting, “Put that Gelo on!” in the postgame locker room, a moment the team later highlighted on the stadium’s big screen during Ball’s introduction.

Ball, a former basketball player who spent time in the NBA G-League and Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Professional in Mexico, has recently shifted his focus to music. His song “Tweaker,” released on Jan. 4, has gained traction among athletes and fans alike, peaking at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The track has become a locker room anthem for the Lions, who celebrated their playoff success by blasting the song after their recent victories.

Earlier in the day, Ball was spotted performing “Tweaker” during a soundcheck at Ford Field, building anticipation for his halftime appearance. The performance was well-received, with fans and players alike sharing clips on social media. Ball’s music career has also gained momentum off the field, as ESPN reported he recently signed a deal with Def Jam and Universal Music Group worth up to $13 million.

The Lions, who finished the 2024 season with a 15-2 record, secured a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Their Week 18 win over the Vikings was a pivotal moment in their season, and Ball’s performance added to the celebratory atmosphere as they advanced to the Divisional Round.
