LiAngelo Ball’s ‘Tweaker’ Remix Gets Lil Wayne Feature
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
LiAngelo Ball, the former basketball player turned rapper, has landed a major co-sign with hip-hop legend Lil Wayne on the remix of his debut single, ‘Tweaker.’ The remix, released on February 7, 2025, features Wayne’s signature flow and boasts a verse that references his journey from the “bleachers” to the “beaches.” This collaboration comes as Ball prepares to release his next single, ‘Can You Please?’
The remix arrives shortly after Wayne announced his upcoming album, which is scheduled to drop on June 6. Ball’s association with a rapper of Wayne’s stature is a significant boost for his burgeoning music career. In 2023, Wayne spoke to Rolling Stone about his longevity in the music industry and his willingness to collaborate with younger artists. He stated, “The motivation isn’t to show them that I’m still that dude, which I am. The motivation is to show them why I’m still that dude,” adding, “That’s the motivation, because I want them to hopefully get something from that and they continue to still be whoever the dude or woman they are.”
Ball’s ‘Tweaker’ gained viral attention in January, with some music critics, like Andre Gee of , suggesting it could be a glimpse into the future of rap. Gee wrote, “Several times a year, hip-hop gets a viral moment that some see as harmless fun, some perceive as the decline of hip-hop tastemaking, and others view as a little of both. And while those aforementioned artists’ breakout songs represented an eye to the future, ‘Tweaker’ may just be a pastiche one-off — though LiAngelo’s teased a second single coming soon. Regardless, the song going from a viral would-be joke to the catalyst for a record deal shows where the industry is going.”
