Lily Collins Celebrates Phil Collins’ 74th Birthday with Heartfelt Tribute

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Lily Collins, the acclaimed actress and daughter of legendary musician Phil Collins, celebrated her father’s 74th birthday with a touching tribute on social media. The heartfelt post, shared on Thursday, January 30, highlighted their bond and shared memories.

“From a west coast star to the West End stage and everywhere in between — I’m so grateful to be by your side and for the support, experiences, and love we have and will continue to share,” Lily wrote on Instagram. She accompanied her message with a throwback photo from when Phil received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and another from his support during her West End debut in Barcelona last year.

Lily, who married filmmaker Charlie McDowell in 2021, expressed her deep appreciation for her father. “The older I get, the greater I appreciate all the little, special moments spent together. Happy birthday Dad,” she continued. “I couldn’t love you more or be more thankful to celebrate you today and every day. Truly. To the moon and back again.”

The father-daughter relationship has not always been smooth. In her 2017 memoir, ‘Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me,’ Lily opened up about their struggles. “He may have still been alive, but most of the time it felt as if he were completely gone. I knew he loved me, yet he wasn’t physically around to tell me,” she wrote. Despite the challenges, Lily emphasized forgiveness and gratitude for their evolving relationship.

Phil Collins, known for his iconic career with Genesis and as a solo artist, has faced his own challenges in recent years. In an October 2022 interview, he discussed his decision to retire from music, citing physical limitations. “I’ve spent all my life playing drums. To suddenly not be able to do that is a shock,” he said in the documentary ‘Phil Collins: Drummer First.’

Despite stepping back from the spotlight, Phil remains grateful for his life and family. “I’ve got five great kids. I live in a reasonably modest house. I don’t want for anything. I’m one of the lucky ones, really,” he shared.
