Lisa K Pop Music Career Interviews

SEOUL, South Korea — K-pop sensation Lisa from BLACKPINK opened up about her emotional connection to music in a recent interview, discussing how various songs have shaped her life and career.

Lisa recalled the first moment she fell in love with music, stating it was sparked by her older cousin’s influence. “The first song I fell in love with was ‘Baby One More Time’ by Britney Spears. I was captivated by the music video and the energy of the song,” she said.

Her journey as a music artist began even before her debut with BLACKPINK. Originally from Thailand, Lisa shared her early fandom for BIGBANG. “Before I moved to Korea, I was a huge fan, and I remember buying Taeyang’s first solo album ‘Solar’ at Myeongdong, a famous shopping district filled with tourists,” she reminisced.

As Lisa prepares for a busy day, she turns to songs that resonate with her morning routine. “I love listening to ‘Snooze’ by SZA in the mornings; it’s just the right vibe to help me wake up. I also enjoy ‘Eternal Sunshine’ by Ariana Grande,’ she said.

When it comes to karaoke, she prefers upbeat tracks, recalling fond memories with friends: “My friend and I would sing ‘Call Me Maybe’ by Carly Rae Jepsen. It’s such a fun song to perform together.”

However, not all songs bring joy for Lisa. She mentioned struggling to perform one of her group’s popular hits. “I can no longer listen to ‘Boombayah.’ It’s not that I dislike the song; it’s just the dance moves are particularly intense,” she explained.

Lisa also reflected on the emotional depth of her music, saying, “My song ‘Dream’ on my new album has a sad tone. It tells the story of a girl who can only dream of someone she can’t meet, and I think many people can relate to that feeling.”

Among the many songs that have influenced her, Lisa highlighted her audition experience. “I sang ‘Ice Cream Freeze (Let’s Chill)’ by Hannah Montana. There were about 1,000 people, and I honestly didn’t think I’d be chosen. But it was a fun song that matched my style perfectly,” she said, indicating how that moment shaped her future.

Additionally, Lisa revealed her guilty pleasure track. “I secretly love ‘You Were Beautiful’ by Day6, a K-pop band that’s really popular,” she confessed. Yet, she emphasized that her love for the band remains low-key.

At parties, she knows which track will keep the energy flowing. “You can’t go wrong with ‘Work’ by Rihanna; it definitely lifts everyone’s spirits,” she noted, sharing that she has had an encounter with the star. “Yes, I met her, and I told her how much I love her music!”

In her recent streaming habits, Lisa mentioned an unexpected hit that caught her attention. “Someone on my team played ‘Hello Miss Johnson’ by Jack Harlow, and I loved it. It totally aligns with my vibe,” she expressed warmly.

Lisa’s solo album, ‘Alter Ego‘, is now available, showcasing her versatility as an artist and her emotional journey through music.
