Liverpool Faces PSV Eindhoven Amid Ongoing Struggles
LIVERPOOL, England — Liverpool will host PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday, November 26, at 8 p.m. GMT. The match comes amid a difficult period for Liverpool, who are 12th in the Premier League and have suffered eight defeats in their last eleven matches.
Manager Arne Slot‘s team is in crisis after a recent 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, which marked their second consecutive loss in the league. Slot is expected to face tough tactical choices, particularly regarding player form and fitness.
Despite their league struggles, Liverpool has had a better run in the Champions League, winning three of four games so far this season. Their only loss of the group phase was to Octavio against Real Madrid in late September. The team will look to regain confidence against a PSV side that has dominated its domestic competition.
PSV Eindhoven currently sits at the top of the Eredivisie with 11 wins in 13 games, but they have struggled in European competition, managing only one win out of four. Coach Peter Bosz aims to improve his side’s performance after a narrow win last weekend over NAC Breda.
In terms of player injuries, Liverpool will be without right-backs Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong. Dominik Szoboszlai is expected to start in the right-back position again. Mohamed Salah is under scrutiny after going three games without a goal, seeking to make history by becoming the first African player to score 50 goals in the Champions League.
PSV arrives almost fully fit, missing only Ruben van Bommel and Alassane Plea due to injury. Bosz’s side has shown resilience, having not lost in their last 11 matches and will be confident against a vulnerable Liverpool defense.
The match will be broadcast on TNT Sports in the U.K. and on Paramount+ in the U.S. Fans can also follow the game live online as Liverpool aims to turn its fortunes around.
