Liverpool Playhouse to Host Star-Studded Rocky Horror Show This Christmas
The Liverpool Playhouse is set to host a captivating rendition of Richard O'Brien‘s universally acclaimed musical, the Rocky Horror Show, from December 3, 2025, to January 4, 2026. The show promises to be a mesmerizing spectacle with a bevy of famous faces gracing the stage.
Leading the cast is singing sensation Jason Donovan, who will portray the iconic character Frank-N-Furter. Donovan, known for his roles in “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” at the London Palladium and the Rocky Horror Show’s 25th Anniversary Production, expressed enthusiasm about bringing his talents to Liverpool audiences once again. He will star from December 3 to December 7, after which Stephen Webb will take over the role.
Liverpool Playhouse audiences will also witness radio favorite Leanne Campbell stepping into the role of the Narrator from December 9 to January 4. Known for her vibrant persona, Campbell commented, “I’ve been Time Warping for as long as I can remember, so stepping into this role feels like coming home.” Liverpool legend Pete Price will share the role with Campbell from December 3 to December 5 and on December 7, adding his signature flair to the show.
The production is directed by Christopher Luscombe and boasts an impressive ensemble cast. Connor Carson and Lauren Chia will portray the characters Brad and Janet, respectively. Meanwhile, Job Greuter, Natasha Hoeberigs, Jayme-Lee Zanoncelli, Morgan Jackson, and Edward Bullingham have been cast in supporting roles, contributing to the electrifying atmosphere expected at the Playhouse.
The Rocky Horror Show, best known for its hit numbers such as “Sweet Transvestite,” “Science Fiction/Double Feature,” and “Time Warp,” continues to captivate audiences worldwide with its blend of science fiction, horror, and music. The story revolves around the adventures of Brad and Janet, who encounter the erratic Dr. Frank-N-Furter after their car breaks down, igniting an unforgettable series of events.
For the Liverpool run, special performances include a captioned show on December 12 and an audio-described performance on December 19, enhancing accessibility for diverse audiences. Tickets, ranging from £11 to £51, are currently available for purchase.
