LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Grammy-winning singer Lizzo announced Saturday that she has reached a significant milestone in her fitness journey, sharing photos and app screenshots that show she has met her weight loss goals. The 36-year-old artist revealed she has lost 10.5% of her body weight and 16% body fat since beginning her journey in January 2023.

“I haven’t seen this number since 2014!” Lizzo wrote in the caption of her Instagram post, which included two photos showcasing her progress. She also shared screenshots from a fitness app congratulating her on achieving her goals.

In a candid Instagram Story clip, Lizzo acknowledged that despite her achievements, she still faces criticism about her weight. “Even at the end of my weight loss journey, I’m not going to be considered thin, by any means,” she said. “I will still be considered morbidly obese on the BMI, and little bros on the internet are still going to call me big backed. But I will be happy.”

In a follow-up clip, Lizzo expressed her joy and pride in her accomplishment. “And I am happy. I did it!” she told fans. “Let this be a reminder that you can do anything you set your mind to. Now, I guess it’s time to set new goals.”

Lizzo has been open about her fitness journey, sharing updates with her followers over the past year. In March 2024, she revealed that she had been “methodical” about losing weight “very slowly” through a combination of diet and exercise. She emphasized that her journey was not just about physical transformation but also about mental health and self-love.

Last September, Lizzo addressed rumors that she had used the weight-loss drug Ozempic to achieve her results. “When you finally get Ozempic allegations after 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit,” she wrote on Instagram, dismissing the speculation. She also posted audio stating, “the fact that you would even discuss my looks is insane,” and affirmed that she is “FINE BOTH WAYS.”

In a September workout video, Lizzo reflected on her journey to self-acceptance. “There were times in my life where I was smaller than I am now, and I hated myself,” she said. “And before I started this fitness journey, I started a self-love journey. And self-love isn’t just about accepting yourself as you are. It’s also accepting the fact that you change.”

Lizzo has consistently emphasized that her fitness goals are not about achieving a specific body type. In May 2023, she responded to a TikToker who suggested she was trying to “escape fatness.” “I am not trying to be thin,” Lizzo said. “I don’t ever want to be thin. Will my body fluctuate from this size? Will I get a little smaller, depending on some of the choices I make, or a little bigger, depending on some of the choices I make in my life? Yes. I’m used to fluctuating.” She added, “However, the goal is always here,” pointing to her head.

Lizzo’s journey has resonated with fans worldwide, inspiring many to prioritize self-love and mental health alongside physical fitness. Her openness about her struggles and successes continues to make her a powerful voice in the conversation about body positivity and self-acceptance.
