Maggie Lamb Young Dolly Parton Performance

SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. — An 11-year-old girl from Knox County is taking the stage at Dollywood as the youngest version of the iconic Sevierville Songbird, Dolly Parton. Maggie Lamb is performing in the show titled “From The Heart,” which will conclude on June 6.

Maggie, whose parents are former WBIR reporter April Lamb and director Ben Lamb, began her journey to stardom early. She has fond memories of visiting the park, enjoying rides such as the kiddie rides, ducks, and flying elephants. Her mother recognized Maggie’s love for performing from a young age.

“I knew she was meant for the stage,” April said. “She’s always loved to sing and perform.” Maggie recently auditioned via video to play young Dolly and impressed everyone with her rendition of the song “Puppy Love.”

“There were some tears of joy,” Maggie said. “I was just very excited to get this opportunity.” Since then, she has been rehearsing with her fellow cast members and commuting to Pigeon Forge from Knoxville with her family’s help.

<p“She amazes me,” April said. “She’s maintaining straight A's, keeping up with friends, and even involved in Girl Scouts. She can achieve anything she sets her mind to.”

While portraying Parton, Maggie has been learning about the singer’s life. “I’m surprised at how many albums Dolly has released; I had no idea,” she commented. “I also learned she was only 13 when she first performed at the Grand Ole Opry.”

Maggie expressed excitement about meeting Dolly Parton during her journey. As her time in the role draws near to a close, her passion for performing continues to grow. “If I have the chance to do this again, I’d love to,” she said.

Maggie Lamb is one of two actresses playing the role of young Dolly in the production, which showcases the life and accomplishments of the iconic singer.
