Fiji, South Pacific — Belle-A Walker, a contestant on Love Island USA, shared her experience after being eliminated from the show during its first recoupling ceremony on Sunday. Walker, 23, had formed a connection with fellow contestant Nic Birchall, but ultimately, he chose to couple with Cierra Ortega instead.

In an interview from her hotel room, Walker expressed surprise and heartbreak over Birchall’s decision. ‘I’d just spoken to him moments before, and he said, “Belle-A, you don’t have any reason to worry.” Then he sent me packing my bags,’ she recalled.

Walker also addressed the recent departure of another contestant, Yulissa, who left the villa after clips surfaced of her using racial slurs in a podcast. Walker stated the producers gave the cast little clarity about Yulissa’s exit, leaving them uncertain and concerned.

Reflecting on her experiences in the villa, Walker shared her motivation for joining the show: ‘I wanted to find my person and feel that love again. Love Island is just this adult summer camp for hot people, and I was like, sign me up!’ Her enthusiasm contrasted sharply with her emotional turmoil on the show.

Walker mentioned her unique name, saying, ‘I kind of took it upon myself to have, like, an adult rebrand, and I started going by Belle-A.’ She emphasized her desire to remain true to herself during her time on Love Island, including her ‘no kissing on the first date’ rule.

Despite the heartbreak of her elimination, Walker expressed hope for future opportunities. ‘I’m a firm believer in what’s meant to be will be,’ she said.
