NEW YORK — Former child star Macaulay Culkin has sold his longtime Manhattan loft for $7.75 million, according to city records filed Tuesday. The off-market sale marks the end of Culkin’s 25-year ownership of the Noho property, which he purchased at the height of his “Home Alone” fame.

Culkin, now 44, bought the 4,800-square-foot condo at 704 Broadway in 1999 for $1.75 million, equivalent to approximately $3.36 million today when adjusted for inflation. The full-floor residence features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an expansive L-shaped living area that encompasses the kitchen, dining, and living rooms.

The building, originally the headquarters of the Socialist Workers’ Party, was converted into a livable space in the 1970s by Bruce Gitlin, a factory owner who secured his rights to the loft with the help of his real estate attorney and future wife, Ellen Schrager. Culkin purchased the property shortly after marrying soap star Rachel Miner in 1998, though the couple divorced three years later.

Despite the breakup, Culkin held onto the loft, which is located just steps from Washington Square Park. In 2016, he opened his doors to New York Magazine, showcasing the “sun-filled” apartment and his art gallery. “The neighborhood was a lot different. There was a Wiz downstairs. Now everything’s owned by NYU,” Culkin told the outlet. “I’ll take walks at 2 or 4 in the morning because there’s nobody out on the streets, and it’s easy for me to go unnoticed.”

Culkin revealed that for nearly two decades, he split his time between New York and France, eventually preferring the anonymity of Paris. “It turned out that no, they recognized me, they just didn’t care. I was like, ‘Where have you people been my entire life?’” he said.

Today, Culkin lives with his wife, actress Brenda Song, and their two children in a five-bedroom, six-bathroom home in Toluca Lake, California. The couple purchased the property from Kiefer Sutherland for $8 million in 2022 in another off-market deal.

The sale of Culkin’s NYC loft, handled discreetly, underscores the enduring appeal of the property’s industrial-chic charm and prime location. While details of the transaction remain private, the $7.75 million price tag reflects a significant profit for the actor, who first rose to fame as Kevin McCallister in the “Home Alone” franchise.
