Macon-Bibb County Offers Free NOAA Weather Radios Ahead of Severe Weather

Macon, Georgia – The Macon-Bibb County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will distribute free NOAA weather radios at City Hall on Friday, March 14, to help residents prepare for severe weather expected over the weekend.
The giveaway is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and aims to ensure that residents have reliable means for receiving alerts, especially as a storm system approaches Middle Georgia from Saturday into Sunday.
According to Macon-Bibb EMA, NOAA weather radios provide instant alerts from the National Weather Service, crucial for staying informed even when power goes out. “With severe weather on the way, now is the time to make sure you have multiple ways to receive alerts—and a weather radio is one of the best!” the agency stated in a Facebook post.
Officials emphasize the importance of preparedness. They urge residents to have various methods to stay informed about weather conditions, especially during severe weather events. “Spread the word and stay weather-aware!” the post added.
<p City Hall is located at 700 Poplar Street in Macon. For up-to-date information, residents can tune into 41NBC Chief Meteorologist Aaron Lowery and Meteorologist Karen Williams, or download the free 41NBC AccuWeather app to receive localized alerts.
Residents interested in the NOAA weather radio giveaway are encouraged to arrive early to secure their devices, as supplies may be limited.
