Madonna Gives Live Debut Of 'this Used To Be My Playground' During Celebration Tour

Madonna has delighted fans with the first live performance of her hit song ‘This Used To Be My Playground’ during her Celebration Tour. The ballad, which was the theme tune for the 1992 sports-comedy-drama A League of Their Own, topped the charts and received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song.

On Friday (February 2), during her show at the United Centre in Chicago, Madonna shared her memories of working on the film. She expressed how she had to learn how to play baseball in the city for months, admitting that she initially struggled but eventually excelled at it.

Before performing the song, Madonna asked the audience if they remembered the theme tune and sang a few lines acapella to jog people’s memories. The crowd quickly joined in, surprising Madonna who playfully joked, ‘I thought only 10 of you would know it. Turns out 20 of you knew it. I’m just kidding.’

As fans eagerly await Madonna’s next album, which she recently teased, this live performance of ‘This Used To Be My Playground’ has left them nostalgic for her earlier hits. The track originally appeared on her groundbreaking 1998 album ‘Ray of Light‘ produced by William Orbit.

The Celebration Tour last year showcased Madonna’s enduring influence and cultural impact, earning a five-star rating. It served as a thrilling reminder that she is not just a pop star but also a force that challenged societal expectations of women in the public eye.

Madonna’s live debut of ‘This Used To Be My Playground’ on the Celebration Tour evoked memories of her memorable role as ‘All The Way’ Mae Mordabito in A League of Their Own, solidifying her place as an iconic figure in the entertainment industry.
