Madonna Returns To The R&b Streaming Songs Chart With 'popular'

Madonna is currently in the midst of her successful The Celebration Tour, but that hasn’t stopped her from making a comeback on the Billboard charts. This week, the iconic singer not only returns to a chart that she has been performing particularly well on, but she also secures a spot in the top ten once again.

On this week’s edition of the R&B Streaming Songs chart, Madonna finds herself inside the top ten. With the song ‘Popular,’ Madonna, in collaboration with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti, reenters the chart at No. 8. The track had previously peaked at No. 2 on this streaming-only chart, narrowly missing out on claiming the top spot. ‘Popular’ has now spent a total of ten weeks on the chart.

The latest R&B Streaming Songs chart sees the return of several successful songs. Last week, like other Billboard rankings, the R&B-focused list was dominated by Christmas songs. December is known for the resurgence of holiday favorites in the weekly charts, but once the Christmas season passes, these songs quickly fade away.

This week, a dozen tracks reenter the R&B Streaming Songs chart, alongside Madonna. Artists such as Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Drake, SZA, and Frank Ocean all make a comeback for another round on the chart. Only one track, titled ‘One of the Girls‘ debuts on the chart this week. This song, featuring The Weeknd, Lily Rose Depp, and Jennie from the band Blackpink, enters at No. 7.

‘Popular’ has proven to be one of the standout R&B songs of 2023. Originally recorded and released for The Weeknd’s TV show, The Idol, the single surpassed the show’s lifespan. Despite The Idol being canceled, songs like ‘Popular’ continue to thrive and perform well on the charts, even months after their initial release.
