Major Outage Hits Commbank Online System, Frustrates Customers

A major outage has disrupted the online services of Australia’s largest lender, CommBank, causing frustration among customers. The issue was acknowledged by the bank at 9:30pm after reports started flooding on website tracker Downdetector.

Customers trying to access the CommBank app were faced with a notice stating that the bank was working to resolve the service disruption. As of 11pm, the app’s functionality was gradually improving, but there were delays in updating account balances and making payments.

Meanwhile, Netbank remained inaccessible, with potential delays in interbank transfers. Although credit and debit card operations were functioning, some customers reported issues with CommBiz and CommSec accounts.

Amidst the outage, customers took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their frustration. One user mentioned, “What is going on? I can’t access my account and I need to transfer money!”

The disruption prompted an urgent investigation by CommBank, with apologies extended for any inconvenience caused to customers.
