Springbok Rugby Player With Family

Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus recently informed the media about the reason for Makazole Mapimpi‘s absence from the rugby field. According to Erasmus, Mapimpi’s wife is giving birth, and the team has chosen to support him during this significant personal milestone.

This announcement has come as a surprise to fans, as Makazole Mapimpi’s relationship details were not widely known prior to this revelation. The news signifies not only Mapimpi’s upcoming fatherhood but also suggests that he may be married.

Mapimpi joins other Springbok players such as Eben Etzebeth, Handre Pollard, and Faf du Plessis, who have also recently become first-time fathers. Historically private about his personal life, Mapimpi had previously been linked to influencer Sasha de Sousa, although their relationship was never confirmed.

Moreover, it has been confirmed that Mapimpi has been released to stay in KwaZulu-Natal for the birth of his child and will not participate in the upcoming clash against the All Blacks. This decision came as he was initially believed to be a replacement for the injured Kurt-Lee Arendse.

Following a week spent with his family, Mapimpi will remain in KwaZulu-Natal, where he is available for selection for the Hollywoodbets Sharks in their upcoming Currie Cup match.

Makazole Mapimpi holds an impressive record, having scored 30 tries in 44 Test matches. He is just two tries away from equalling Jaque Fourie’s record as South Africa’s third all-time leading try scorer. With his absence, Rassie Erasmus has named Canan Moodie and Cheslin Kolbe to fill in as wingers for the match against New Zealand.
