Mariners Tigers Alds Game 2 Seattle

Seattle, Washington – The Seattle Mariners defeated the Detroit Tigers 3-2 on Sunday, October 5, evening the American League Division Series at one game apiece. The Mariners trailed until the bottom of the eighth inning when Julio Rodríguez delivered a crucial RBI double, helping Seattle secure the win.

Mariners second baseman Jorge Polanco hit two solo home runs off of Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal, giving Seattle a 2-0 lead. The first home run came in the fourth inning, followed by another in the sixth.

However, the Tigers fought back in the eighth. Spencer Torkelson tied the game with a two-RBI single, scoring Gleyber Torres and Riley Greene. The comeback was short-lived as Rodríguez’s double soon afterward brought home Cal Raleigh, taking the lead for Seattle.

Mariners closer Andrés Muñoz, who previously pitched in Game 1, struck out three batters to secure the win in the ninth inning, showing no signs of fatigue.

Detroit came to the game with a 1-0 series lead after a dramatic extra-inning victory in Game 1, but they couldn’t extend their advantage. Now, the teams head back to Detroit for Game 3 on Tuesday, October 7.

With the series tied, both teams will look to take control in the coming games, adding pressure as they battle for a chance in the league championship series.
