Will Trent Abc Crime Drama Cast

LOS ANGELES — Viewers of ABC’s crime drama ‘Will Trent‘ will not see much more of Assistant District Attorney Marion Alba this season. Co-showrunner Liz Heldens confirmed to TVLine that actress Gina Rodriguez will not appear in additional episodes before the show wraps up its third season on May 13.

Marion was first introduced in the Season 3 premiere as an ADA, quickly developing a romantic connection with main character Will Trent, played by Ramírez. Their relationship took a turn after a tragic incident left an innocent 14-year-old dead, causing a rift between the two by Episode 12, leading to their breakup.

“Marion is not going to resurface before the season’s end,” Heldens said. “When we got to the end, we realized we didn’t have enough runway for everybody.” The character last appeared in a fantasy disco sequence in Episode 13, with Will asking her to wait until he could emotionally commit.

Rodriguez’s character appeared in 10 out of 18 Season 3 episodes, prompting speculation among fans about the potential for her return next season. “We love Gina. She pops off the screen. It was an amazing experience to work with her, and I wouldn’t rule out her at all,” Heldens added.

Fans have expressed mixed feelings about the character’s dynamics with Will Trent, many rooting for the original pairing with Angie. Comments from viewers suggest a longing for the classic chemistry rather than new romantic entanglements, with one viewer stating, “Will belongs with Angie.” Another expressed disappointment, saying, “Gina is a great actress, but I just don’t see her fitting in.”

The response on social media reveals a passionate audience eager to discuss the character arcs and relationships that have unfolded this season. “Honestly, Marion was a rebound relationship that was destined to fail,” critiqued a fan. Meanwhile, others are hopeful for further developments in Will’s love life, with hints at new characters potentially being introduced from the source material.
