Martha Stewart, 83, Masters the Art of Instagram Thirst Traps
NEW YORK, N.Y. — At 83, lifestyle mogul Martha Stewart continues to redefine age norms, captivating audiences with her bold and sultry Instagram posts. From poolside selfies to risqué brand campaigns, Stewart has embraced the art of the “thirst trap” with confidence and flair.
Stewart, a media mogul and author, made history as the oldest person to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated. “It’s important to stand up to challenges, whether they’re beauty challenges or intellectual challenges, even philanthropic challenges,” she said. “To be able to stand up and do it — to me — is so fun! And this is accomplishing something that not everybody would accomplish.”
Her Instagram feed is a testament to her fearless approach. On Jan. 28, Stewart flaunted her pout for MAC Cosmetics‘ campaign, titled “I Only Wear MAC.” “[The photos are] charming and I think they’ll get some attention,” she said. “I love what I look like in these pictures. They’re almost selfie-like. This fabulous nude color lipstick really makes the face. It’s a beautiful color.”
Stewart followed up with an even saucier post, featuring herself eating a strawberry, licking honey off a dipper, and nibbling on a pomegranate. Her playful captions and striking visuals have garnered widespread attention, proving that age is no barrier to staying relevant in the digital age.
In summer 2023, Stewart shared a seductive snap from a 13th-century castle in Italy. “The heated pool in a stone tower was the perfect place for a new selfie! Dark. Candle lit. Mysterious,” she wrote. The post showcased her ability to blend elegance with allure, a hallmark of her personal brand.
Stewart’s thirst trap streak began in July 2020 with a poolside photo in East Hampton. “I was trying to take a picture of the beautiful turquoise planter at the end of the pool, but the camera was on me, so I just snapped it,” she explained. “It looked so good, so I posted it. I didn’t know what a ‘thirst trap’ was, but now I do. Now I’m looking for the next thirst trap. I love doing those promiscuous, provocative things, because it’s just fun.”
Her boldness extends to brand campaigns as well. In 2022, Stewart stripped down to just an apron for a Green Mountain Coffee Roasters ad. “I started modeling when I was a young girl, and if the job called for any bit of nudity in any way, I could go with it, it’s okay. I’m not embarrassed about it,” she said.
From mirror selfies to shimmering dresses, Stewart’s Instagram is a celebration of self-expression and confidence. “I love those thirst traps,” she said, proving that age is just a number when it comes to staying bold and beautiful.
