Marvel Blade Reboot Production Issues

Disney has made the decision to remove Marvel’s highly anticipated ‘Blade’ reboot from its 2025 release schedule, citing ongoing production issues. The film, which is set to star Mahershala Ali as the titular vampire slayer, has faced significant setbacks, including the departure of director Yann Demange in June 2024.

The departure of Demange marked the second time a director had left the project. Previously, Bassam Tariq had relinquished the role due to a scheduling conflict before filming was set to begin. These changes, combined with the impact of the writers’ strike in May 2023, have significantly delayed the film’s production.

In place of ‘Blade,’ Disney will now release 20th Century Studios‘ ‘Predator: Badlands’ on November 7, 2025, which was the original release date for ‘Blade.’ The delays and changes have not gone unnoticed, with original ‘Blade’ actor Wesley Snipes commenting on the situation. Snipes, who played Blade in the 1998 original and its sequels, took to X/Twitter to poke fun at the reboot’s struggles, expressing his support for Mahershala Ali while also highlighting the challenges the new film is facing.

Despite the setbacks, Mahershala Ali remains attached to the project. The script for the film is undergoing revisions, and there are hopes that the production will get back on track. Mia Goth, who was set to play a vampire villain named Lilith, had assured fans that care was being taken to ensure the movie’s quality. However, the road to releasing the reboot remains uncertain.
