Marvel Cosmic Invasion Revealed During Nintendo Direct 2025

REDMOND, Wash. — DotEmu has unveiled a new brawler-style game titled Marvel Cosmic Invasion during the Nintendo Direct on March 27, 2025. The game features iconic characters including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, and others, who unite to combat the formidable Annihilation Wave led by the supervillain Annihilus.

Scheduled for release on multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC via Steam, Marvel Cosmic Invasion promises an engaging side-scrolling beat ’em up experience reminiscent of classic arcade games. The game is projected to launch in late 2025.

The latest trailer, filled with vibrant hand-drawn animation, showcases the superhero roster, which also includes Nova, Storm, Phyla-Vell, and Venom. Each character brings unique skills and can engage in brawls across various locations from New York City to the depths of the Negative Zone.

Tribute Games, known for developing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, is collaborating with DotEmu on this project. The gameplay features the innovative “Cosmic Swap” system, allowing players to switch between two characters mid-fight, utilizing their distinct superpowers to create new strategies and combos.

In a statement, a DotEmu representative said, “Marvel Cosmic Invasion aims to blend nostalgia with modern gameplay, empowering players to relive that classic arcade vibe while enjoying a fresh, co-op experience.” The game also highlights inclusivity with its range of accessibility features, enabling families to join the action as either heroes or villains.

During the Direct, players experienced a glimpse of the gameplay, where a multitude of Marvel heroes battled intergalactic foes in arcade-inspired side-scrolling action. The sprites are notably reminiscent of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, eliciting excitement among fans of retro gaming.
