Marvel Teases More Cast Additions for Upcoming Avengers Film

LOS ANGELES, California — Marvel Studios hints at additional cast members for “Avengers: Doomsday,” set to release on May 1, 2026. Despite an already star-studded lineup, the absence of some iconic characters has fans speculating about future announcements.
During the recent casting announcement video shared on social media, several main actors were revealed, including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and Letitia Wright as Black Panther. The video featured actors’ names alongside labeled director chairs, generating buzz among fans.
Robert Downey Jr., who portrayed Iron Man, commented on the reveal, stating, “That’s what you call a deep bench of talent… actually it’s more like a row, but an extra long one… That must be it…right? There’s always room for more…” to which Marvel Studios replied affirmatively, further fueling speculation of an expanded cast.
However, notable characters such as Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch were conspicuously missing from the initial cast list. Their absence raises questions about their roles in the upcoming saga, especially with the inclusion of X-Men like Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Kelsey Grammer’s Beast.
“Could the cast list for the next Avengers movie be about to get even longer?” the release hinted, indicating that more announcements could follow soon.
In a recent interview, Olsen stated she will not return for the upcoming pairs of MCU installments, saying, “No, I’m back [in the States]. I just finished filming [Panic Carefully]. I’m moving on to filming a pilot for FX called Seven Sisters.” Olsen’s refusal to comment on her potential future involvement may suggest a strategic move, as her character’s fate has been uncertain since her last appearance in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”
Olsen mentioned her full schedule as she gears up for a reunion with director Sean Durkin on the FX pilot. Her upcoming projects include notable co-stars including Julia Roberts and Eddie Redmayne.
As for which characters will definitely appear, the only confirmed return is Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, although he will not be part of “Doomsday.” Fans continue to speculate on other actors, as recent scheduling conflicts have hinted at undisclosed filming commitments for several Marvel actors.
“The last we saw of Scarlet Witch, she was crushed and presumed dead during the final act of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” noted industry insiders. It remains unclear how plotlines involving her character will unfold in the upcoming Avengers saga.
The combination of the confirmed and rumored cast, plus the massive fan base, places significant anticipation on “Avengers: Doomsday” as one of the most awaited installments in Marvel’s cinematic universe.
