The San Francisco Giants have secured the services of star third baseman Matt Chapman, who has agreed to a six-year contract worth 151 million USD. This agreement, finalized late Wednesday evening, will keep Chapman with the team from 2025 to 2030, preventing him from entering free agency after the current season.

As part of the deal, Chapman will receive a signing bonus of 1 million USD, which is scheduled to be paid in the following year, and his annual salary will amount to 25 million USD.

Chapman initially joined the Giants as a free agent in March, having signed a three-year contract valued at 54 million USD. This previous contract included options that allowed him to exit the agreement in 2024 and 2025, along with a 2 million USD signing bonus and a salary of 16 million USD for 2024.

Currently, Chapman boasts a batting average of .247 and leads the Giants with 22 home runs, 69 runs batted in, 90 runs scored, and 33 doubles. The 31-year-old veteran has won the Gold Glove award four times and has a career batting average of .241, along with 177 home runs and 495 runs batted in during his tenure with the Oakland Athletics (2017-2021), the Toronto Blue Jays (2022-2023), and the Giants.

Notably, Chapman was also selected to participate in the All-Star game in 2019.
