Matt Damon Dazzles at ‘Shadow Force’ Premiere Amid ‘Odyssey’ Filming

New York City, NY – Matt Damon stunned fans at the premiere of ‘Shadow Force‘ on May 3, 2025, where he walked the red carpet alongside his wife, Luciana Barroso. The couple has been married for nearly 20 years and appeared excited to support a longtime friend starring in the new action thriller.
Damon, 54, showcased a casual yet chiseled appearance in a navy button-up shirt, fitted black trousers, and sleek faux leather sneakers. His scruffy beard added to his rugged charm, an aesthetic tied to his current role as Odysseus in an upcoming adaptation of Homer’s ‘The Odyssey‘ being filmed in Greece.
The actor’s physical transformation for the role caught the eye of fans, including a close friend who recently praised Damon’s “chiseled” physique. Luciana complemented her husband’s look, wearing a cream satin corset top paired with high-waisted trousers, exuding an elegant presence on the red carpet.
The couple shares three daughters, Bella, 18, Gia, 16, and Stella, 14, and Damon also helps raise Luciana’s daughter Alexia, 25, from a previous relationship. Despite their busy family life and Damon’s filming schedule, he returned to New York City to spend Easter with his family before attending the premiere.
Earlier this year, Damon hinted at his role in Christopher Nolan‘s project, stating, “I literally have an odyssey in front of me.” Details about the film remain limited, but Universal Pictures confirmed its development in December 2024, describing it as a ‘mythic action epic’ utilizing cutting-edge IMAX film technology.
While filming in Favignana, Italy, Damon was spotted shirtless and in impressive shape while portraying Odysseus. Sporting rugged tan pants and a dramatic gray beard, he filmed scenes alongside co-star. Fans eagerly anticipate a first look at Damon in full armor, which the studio released in February, showcasing Nolan’s ambitious vision.
However, the casting choices have sparked criticism, with some expressing disappointment over the lack of Greek representation in both the casting and filming locations. Frustrated fans have voiced their concerns on social media, emphasizing the disappointment in not featuring any Greek actors in a film centered on Ancient Greece.
Ben Affleck, Damon’s longtime friend and producing partner, discussed the challenges of stunt work in their 50s, reflecting on the rigorous preparation for action roles. He stated, “It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Where you really have to go learn the fights, this is ‘Bourne Identity’ kind of territory.”
As ‘The Odyssey’ gears up for its release on July 17, 2026, fans are eagerly following Damon’s transformation from a clean-cut action star to a legendary figure of Greek mythology.
