Mattea Conforti Joins Cast of ‘The Testaments’

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Mattea Conforti is set to join the cast of the upcoming sequel series “The Testaments,” based on Margaret Atwood‘s acclaimed novel. This announcement comes as the show expands its ensemble ahead of its anticipated premiere.
The new series, which takes place 15 years after the original “The Handmaid’s Tale,” will feature Conforti as a series regular character named Becka. Becka is described as a girl from humble origins who attends school with the elite of Gilead. As she comes of age, she begins to question the life path laid out for her.
“For these young women, growing up in Gilead is all they have ever known, having no tangible memories of the outside world prior to their indoctrination into this life,” the series description states. “Facing the prospect of being married off and living a life of servitude, they will be forced to search for allies, both new and old, to help in their fight for freedom and the life they deserve.”
Conforti’s previous credits include her roles in films such as “The Many Saints of Newark,” “Frozen II,” and various television series like AMC’s “NOS4A2” and Starz’s “Power.” She is represented by Paradigm and Mara Entertainment.
Bruce Miller, who served as the creator and showrunner for “The Handmaid's Tale,” will also take the helm as creator and executive producer for “The Testaments.” Executive producers include Warren Littlefield from The Littlefield Company, Steve Stark of Toluca Pictures, and Mike Barker, who will direct the first three episodes. MGM Television is producing the series.
The ensemble cast for “The Testaments” also includes previously announced actors Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Ann Dowd, and Rowan Blanchard. As anticipation builds for the series, fans are eager to see how this new generation of characters navigates the complexities of life in Gilead.
