Max Unveils Must-Watch April Lineup with Major Series Returns

NEW YORK, NY — HBO and Max are gearing up for an exciting April, with a lineup featuring highly anticipated series premieres and returning favorites. Notably, the second season of the Emmy-winning series The Last of Us is set to debut on April 13, while the fourth season of the popular comedy Hacks will kick off on April 10.
The Last of Us, based on the acclaimed video game from Naughty Dog, continues the post-apocalyptic journey of Joel and Ellie, portrayed by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. This season picks up five years after the first season’s conclusion, introducing Kaitlyn Dever as a new character, Abby. New episodes will be released weekly, and the show will also be available in American Sign Language (ASL).
“We are thrilled to bring back The Last of Us for a second season, and we are prepared to take our viewers on an even more intense journey,” said series creator Neil Druckmann. “Fans can expect more character development and unexpected twists throughout the season.”
Meanwhile, Hacks, which showcases the dynamic between an aging comedian, played by Jean Smart, and her young writer, Hannah Einbinder, will release its first two episodes on April 10. Additional episodes will roll out weekly, concluding with a season finale on May 29.
In addition to these returning series, Max will introduce new films, including A24‘s Y2K, which premieres on April 4. This disaster-comedy film, set on New Year’s Eve 1999, tells the story of high school students who gatecrash the last party before the millennium. Another notable release includes Babygirl, starring Nicole Kidman, which arrives on April 25.
The April schedule marks a lighter film selection compared to previous months, with more than 80 classic titles making their way to the platform. Fans can look forward to films like Sixteen Candles and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, which will be available starting on April 1. As always, live sports will be featured, including NHL and NBA playoff games.
Subscribers can expect a diverse assortment of entertainment throughout the month, merging beloved classics with exciting new content.
