Mcdonald's Monopoly Game 2025

New York – McDonald’s is reviving its popular Monopoly game after a decade, launching a new version in its restaurants on October 6, 2025. The promotion aims to engage customers with a fresh digital approach.

Unlike past promotions that featured physical game boards, the new Monopoly will primarily be played through the McDonald’s app for registered members. Some food items, like large fry boxes, will still feature peel-off game pieces that can be scanned into the app for rewards.

Players can earn various prizes, including free food, bonus reward points, and major rewards such as 1 million American Airlines miles or a Jeep Grand Cherokee. One lucky winner will also have the chance to take home a $1 million cash prize.

This announcement comes as McDonald’s reported an uptick in sales after struggling earlier in the year. The brand attributed its recovery to promotions surrounding the release of “A Minecraft Movie” and the introduction of new crispy chicken strips. The chain also revived its “Extra Value Meals” menu to maintain this positive momentum.

The Monopoly promotion at McDonald’s began in 1987 and was last seen in U.S. restaurants in 2014, although it continued in several international markets. The game has had a controversial past, including a scam in 1989 where high-value pieces were embezzled and sold.

Jerome Jacobson, the ringleader known as “Uncle Jerry,” was convicted of multiple counts of mail fraud after it was revealed that he had been scheming to sell million-dollar game pieces illegally. A documentary about this scandal aired in 2020.

CEO Chris Kempczinski highlighted the loyalty program’s significance in the company’s growth strategy. He noted that customers who joined the program doubled their visits, enhancing brand perception. Currently, about a quarter of U.S. business comes from loyalty members, and McDonald’s aims for 250 million active members worldwide by 2027.
