Met Gala 2025 to Celebrate Black Style with ‘Superfine’ Theme

New York City, NY — The 2025 Met Gala is set for May 5, promising an exciting celebration of Black men’s fashion with its theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” This annual charity event, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, heralds the Costume Institute‘s spring exhibition, which will run from May 10 to October 26.

With a ticket price of $75,000, the exclusive gala attracts a star-studded guest list of celebrities and fashion icons. This year, the red carpet will showcase a variety of interpretations of the theme, reflecting the influence of Black dandyism in fashion history.

Singer Teyana Taylor, actor La La Anthony, and comedian Ego Nwodim will host the Met Gala livestream, which can be viewed across Vogue’s digital platforms. Pre-event festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. ET, with guest arrivals expected until 8 p.m.

The exhibition, inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s book, “Slaves to Fashion,” explores the significance of sartorial style in shaping Black identities. Miller explained, “The tailor became a very, very important person in a community,” noting their pivotal role in crafting garments for special occasions.

This year’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” invites attendees to embrace bespoke looks, highlighting the elegance of tailored menswear. Among the expected co-chairs are actor Colman Domingo, musicians Pharrell Williams and A$AP Rocky, and honorary co-chair NBA star LeBron James. Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour will once again preside over the event.

Notable figures in the host committee include André 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Spike Lee. While the guest list remains a closely guarded secret, returning stars like Rihanna and Zendaya are anticipated.

Jack Schlossberg, a Kennedy heir, recently announced his boycott of the gala, expressing concern for global issues. Despite controversies, the Met Gala continues to be a significant fundraiser for the museum, raising millions each year.
