Met Gala Red Carpet Fashion 2023

New York City, NY – The annual Met Gala took place on the first Monday in May, celebrating fashion’s evolution with notable figures in attendance.

This year, singer Jodie Waterhouse made a grand return to the red carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She wore a striking Michael Kors deconstructed tuxedo dress, which featured a dramatic backless silhouette, a thigh-high slit, and an extended train.

Waterhouse accessorized her look with Jacob & Co. jewelry, a trendy black clutch, and satin pumps, showcasing a blend of elegance and modernity.

The theme for this year’s gala, “Tailored for You,” is inspired by the Costume Institute’s exhibition titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” This theme draws from the book “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity” by Monica L. Miller.

Andrew Bolton, the head curator of the Costume Institute, emphasized the significance of this year’s exhibition, stating, “The show itself marks a really important step in our commitment to diversifying our exhibitions and collections, as well as redressing some of the historical biases within our curatorial practice.”

This exhibition is particularly notable as it is the first focused solely on menswear since 2003. Celebrities like Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Lewis Hamilton were also highlighted for their contributions to fashion.

Waterhouse was spotted previously at the Met Gala in 2023 with her boyfriend, Robert Pattinson. She wore a sheer Fendi dress adorned with colorful floral embroidery, while Pattinson looked sharp in a classic navy blue tuxedo designed by Dior Men.
