Method Man Accused of Assault at Staten Island Gym
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Rapper and actor Method Man, a member of the iconic Wu-Tang Clan, is facing allegations of assaulting a man at a Crunch Fitness gym on Staten Island, law enforcement sources confirmed Thursday.
The 53-year-old artist, whose real name is Clifford Smith, allegedly punched a 28-year-old man in the face seven times “with a closed fist,” according to sources. The incident reportedly stemmed from the man’s past relationship with Method Man’s daughter over a decade ago.
The alleged victim reported facial pain and dizziness but refused medical attention at the scene. A complaint was filed with the New York Police Department, though Smith was not arrested, sources said.
Method Man, a hip-hop legend and accomplished actor, rose to fame with Wu-Tang Clan’s groundbreaking 1993 debut album, “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).” He has since built a successful career in music, television, and film, making this incident a rare controversy for the artist.
As of Thursday, there has been no public comment from Method Man or his representatives regarding the allegations. Authorities have not released further details about the incident or indicated whether charges will be filed.
The story is still developing, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
