Mets Braves Baseball Game Citi Field

FLUSHING, NY — The New York Mets aim to build on their recent success as they face the Atlanta Braves in the finale of a four-game series at Citi Field on Thursday at 7:10 PM ET.

The Mets (47-34) are looking to carry momentum after snapping a losing streak with a 7-4 victory over the Braves on Wednesday. Prior to that, they had lost eight of their last nine games, a tough stretch that included a seven-game losing streak. Their offensive output improved recently, as they hit ten home runs in their last three games, despite losing two of those matchups.

Left-handed pitcher Griffin Canning (4-6, 3.71 ERA) is set to take the mound for the Mets. Canning has struggled in his recent outings, allowing at least four runs in his last three starts. He faced the Braves in 2024, where he conceded seven runs in a challenging outing.

The Braves (37-42) will counter with right-hander Grant Holmes (7-3, 3.91 ERA), who has had an up-and-down season. Holmes recorded a stellar performance against the Marlins in his last appearance, pitching 5 2/3 scoreless innings.

Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor is showing signs of a turnaround, recently going 4-for-9 with two home runs in his last two games. However, the team struggles to capitalize when runners are in scoring position, a key area they hope to improve on.

With sweltering temperatures around New York City, conditions could affect gameplay significantly. Wind blowing in from right-center will help control ball travel, impacting how hitters approach their at-bats.

As the series comes to a close, the Mets hope to split the series with the Braves and regain their earlier season form. “The momentum is key,” said a team source. “We need this win to reset our season.”
