LOS ANGELES, CA — Mia Goth has been confirmed to join the cast of Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming adaptation of the epic poem, “The Odyssey,” as reported by Variety. The film will feature a star-studded ensemble, including Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal.

Scheduled for release on July 17, 2026, “The Odyssey” will chronicle the legendary journey of the Greek hero Odysseus as he navigates his way home after the Trojan War. This adaptation not only aims to bring this timeless tale to modern audiences but will also utilize groundbreaking IMAX film technology.

Universal Pictures, the distributor of the film, described it as a “mythic action epic” that is the first to present Homer‘s foundational saga in IMAX. The script will be penned by Nolan, who will also serve as producer alongside his wife, Emma Thomas, under their Syncopy production company.

According to Variety, production is expected to commence this spring, with filming locations including Sicily, a notable setting in Odysseus’s narrative. The Island of Favignana, referred to as “goat island,” is anticipated to be a focal point during the shoot, believed to be the site where Odysseus landed during his voyages.

While details about Goth’s character have not been disclosed, sources suggest that her role may not involve dialogue, and could involve her portraying either a siren or possibly a goddess. The epic tale intertwines themes of loyalty, cunning, and the struggle against divine will, featuring Odysseus’s encounters with mythological creatures like Cyclopes and Sirens.

Goth, known for her roles in horror films such as “A Cure for Wellness” and “Suspiria,” will also lead the cast in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming “Frankenstein.” Her impressive body of work sets high expectations for her involvement in Nolan’s ambitious project.

Nolan’s films are known for their grandeur and technical innovation, and “The Odyssey” is anticipated to follow suit, potentially reshaping the landscape of cinematic adaptations of classic literature.
