Mia Goth Joins Star-Studded Cast of Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’

LOS ANGELES, California — Actress Mia Goth has officially joined the cast of Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming film, “The Odyssey,” set to be released on July 17, 2026. The film, distributed by Universal Pictures, follows the legendary journey of the Greek hero Odysseus as he navigates various challenges on his quest to return home after the Trojan War.
The announcement comes as fans anticipate a modern adaptation of the ancient epic poem written by Homer more than 2,000 years ago. “The Odyssey” will showcase cutting-edge IMAX technology, promising a visually stunning experience for audiences. According to Universal, this marks the first time Homer’s saga will be presented on IMAX screens.
Goth joins a remarkable ensemble cast that includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal, and John Leguizamo. Sources indicate that Goth’s role may be non-speaking, which raises questions about her character’s significance. Speculation suggests she could portray a siren or a goddess, both of which play pivotal roles in the original tale.
“Christopher Nolan’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology,” the studio’s release states. The film is anticipated to emphasize not only the adventure of Odysseus but also the interventions of gods and mythical creatures that challenge him along the way.
Production is expected to begin this spring, with Sicily and Favignana Island among the filming locations. The setting holds historical relevance to the tale, as it is believed to be where Odysseus encountered several of his legendary challenges.
Nolan, who is known for his imaginative storytelling and complex characters, will write, produce, and direct the film. His wife, Emma Thomas, is also set to produce through their banner Syncopy. The movie aims to bring a fresh perspective to a classic story that continues to resonate through the ages.
Mia Goth is known for her acclaimed performances in horror films, including “X,” “Pearl,” and “A Cure for Wellness.” Following her role in “The Odyssey,” she is set to star in Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of “Frankenstein.”
As fans eagerly await further casting announcements and production details, the excitement surrounding Nolan’s ambitious project continues to grow.
