Michael Douglas Doubts Return as Hank Pym in Marvel Movies

LOS ANGELES, CA — Michael Douglas, who has portrayed Hank Pym in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) since 2015, expressed doubt about returning to the franchise. Douglas first appeared as Pym in ‘Ant-Man‘ and reprised the role in several sequels, including ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame.’
In a recent interview, Douglas stated, ‘I don’t think so. I had the experience, and I was excited to do it. I’d never done a green screen picture before.’ He referenced his work on the Netflix series ‘The Kominsky Method‘ as a shift towards comedy, focusing more on enjoying his personal life.
This suggests Hank Pym will likely not appear in the upcoming film ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ currently in production and set for release on May 1, 2026. However, Ant-Man, played by Paul Rudd, will be featured in the film. The fate of Rudd’s character in future installments remains uncertain.
Douglas’s recent projects include a starring role as Benjamin Franklin in the Apple TV+ miniseries ‘Franklin,’ which debuted in April 2024. He also worked with his son, Cameron, on a drama film titled ‘Blood Knot,’ which is seeking distribution.
As of now, all three ‘Ant-Man’ movies are available for streaming on Disney+, as fans look forward to any future developments in the MCU.
