Michael J. Fox Shrinking Season 3

LOS ANGELES, CA — Michael J. Fox is making his long-awaited return to acting with a guest-starring role in the third season of Apple TV+’s hit comedy series, ‘Shrinking‘. The announcement came on May 15, 2025, marking the actor’s first significant role in five years.

Details about Fox’s character remain undisclosed, but speculation suggests it may be tied to Paul Rhoades, played by Harrison Ford. In the second season, Rhoades grapples with being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, a condition that Fox has lived with for over 30 years.

This reunion with ‘Shrinking’ co-creator Bill Lawrence holds special significance; Fox starred in Lawrence’s earlier sitcom, ‘Spin City‘, which ran from 1996 to 2002 and earned Fox his fifth Emmy Award. Fox had to step back from acting when his Parkinson’s symptoms worsened.

Fox has since had a notable career, including roles in series like ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, and appeared recently in the documentary ‘STILL: A Michael J. Fox Movie’. His profound influence in the fight against Parkinson’s is underscored by the success of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which he founded in 2000, raising over $2.5 billion for research.

In addition to Fox, ‘Shrinking’s’ third season will introduce new cast members, including Jeff Daniels, who will portray Jimmy’s father. The ensemble features other notable actors such as Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, and Christa Miller.

Fox’s return to acting follows a five-year hiatus, during which he expressed his willingness to take on challenging roles that resonate with his personal experiences. With this new addition, ‘Shrinking’ continues to delve into themes of mental health and personal transformation.

As the series progresses, audiences look forward to seeing how Fox’s character will impact the lives of the show’s central figures, as well as the dialogue on the impact of Parkinson’s disease.
