Michael J. Fox Shares Insights in New Memoir ‘Future Boy’

NEW YORK, NY — Emmy-winning actor Michael J. Fox is set to release his latest memoir, Future Boy, in fall 2025, offering fans a glimpse into a pivotal year in his life. The book, co-written with Nelle Fortenberry, explores 1985, the year he gained fame as Alex P. Keaton on the NBC sitcom Family Ties and starred as Marty McFly in the iconic film Back to the Future.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Fox describes the experience of juggling both roles. ‘The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once,’ he quoted Einstein, reflecting on the chaos of that period. ‘What was it like? In a word: busy.’
The memoir will include new interviews with cast members from both projects, aiming to create a ‘slice of entertainment history that’s never been told,’ according to its description.
As Back to the Future approaches its 40th anniversary in 2025, Fox emphasizes the significance of this retrospective journey. ‘This book has basically become a time machine for me, but unlike the DeLorean, there’s plenty of room for anyone who’d like to climb in for the ride,’ he shared.
Fox, who has also authored bestselling memoirs including No Time Like the Future, is a known advocate for Parkinson’s awareness after his diagnosis at age 29. He expresses his excitement for this new book, revealing it’s ‘less memoir and more perspective’ as it tackles questions of identity and purpose.
Future Boy is set to hit shelves on October 14, 2025, and is currently available for preorder.
