Formula One legend Michael Schumacher‘s personal collection of luxury watches is set to hit the auction block, with eight exclusive timepieces going under the hammer for an estimated total value exceeding $4.8 million. The highly coveted watches will be on display in New York from May 3 to May 5, coinciding with the Miami Grand Prix weekend, before the auction takes place in Geneva, Switzerland, on May 13, conducted by renowned auction house Christie’s.

Schumacher’s family, in collaboration with Christie’s, decided to part ways with select pieces from his watch collection, recognizing the significant value they hold for watch collectors worldwide. Remi Guillemin, the head of watches at Christie’s, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with the family and showcase these unique timepieces to enthusiasts.

The collection features luxury watches from esteemed brands such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, and F.P. Journe, with standout pieces like the platinum F.P. Journe Vagabondage 1 stealing the spotlight. This exceptional watch, given to Schumacher by his mentor Jean Todt, is expected to command a staggering price of up to $2.2 million, making it a prized possession for watch connoisseurs.

Another notable timepiece is the Rolex stainless steel Paul Newman Daytona, an iconic watch named after the Daytona International Speedway. With an estimated price tag of up to $440,000, it stands as a timeless piece in the world of horology, symbolizing Schumacher’s legacy in Formula One racing.

Among the auction highlights is the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch, crafted in white gold and gifted to Schumacher by Todt in 2003. This personalized timepiece, celebrating Schumacher’s six championship victories at the time, is expected to fetch up to $280,000, embodying the rich history shared between the driver and his mentor.

The auction also features the platinum F.P. Journe Vagabondage 1, a striking timepiece honoring Schumacher’s seventh F1 Driver’s World Championships. With a bold red dial and intricate details symbolizing his triumphs, this watch is a true testament to Schumacher’s enduring legacy in the world of motorsports.

Notably, a prototype of the F.P. Journe watch was previously sold to benefit the Paris Brain Institute Foundation, underscoring Schumacher’s philanthropic efforts alongside Todt. These watches represent not only a treasured part of Schumacher’s legacy but also important milestones in the realms of watchmaking and Formula One, highlighting the intersection of craftsmanship and sporting excellence.

Despite Schumacher’s absence from public life since his tragic skiing accident in 2013, his family continues to honor his legacy through initiatives like this auction, keeping his remarkable achievements and contributions alive in the hearts of fans and collectors worldwide.
