Michelle Heyman Returns to Matildas Squad for Olympic Qualifiers
After a six-year absence, Michelle Heyman, the star striker for Canberra United FC, has made a remarkable return to the Matildas squad for the AFC Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Paris 2024 Asian Qualifiers Round 3. The upcoming matches against Uzbekistan will provide the opportunity for the Matildas to secure a spot at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Heyman’s resurgence in form has been recognized, and fellow A-League standout Chloe Logarzo (Western United) has also earned a recall to the CommBank Matildas squad. Unfortunately, due to injury, captain Sam Kerr will be absent from the match, and Arsenal FC‘s Steph Catley will step in as captain for the series.
The promising series will be broadcast live on 10 and Paramount+. In anticipation of the matches, Paramount Australia will air a special Matildas Magazine Show on Thursday, 22 February, featuring expert analysis and a preview of the series. The excitement will continue on match days, with extended pre-match coverage providing team news and interviews.
The first leg of the series will take place on February 24, with the game being streamed live from 7:00 PM AEDT. The second leg will be held on February 28, also live from 7:30 PM AEDT. Both matches will be available for viewing on 10 and Paramount+.
