New York, NY — Michelle Obama and her brother Craig Robinson have officially launched a new podcast titled “IMO,” short for “in my opinion,” which is set to release its first two episodes on March 12, 2025. The podcast aims to engage in lifestyle conversations, avoiding political topics.

Craig Robinson, executive director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, joins Obama as they share personal stories, including Robinson’s experiences with divorce. This discussion reflects a broader theme in their podcast, as they both navigate their familial connections and individual experiences.

The first episode will delve into Robinson’s divorce from Janis Robinson in 2000 and his subsequent marriage to Kelly McCrum Robinson in 2006. The former first lady also touches on her marriage with former President Barack Obama, amidst ongoing rumors about their relationship. Obama has previously addressed such speculation in her 2018 memoir, “Becoming,” where she expressed her disinterest in political engagement.

During a recent interview, actor Jennifer Aniston denied rumors about a romantic relationship with Barack Obama, emphasizing she has only met him once and knows Michelle better. This comment follows a series of unverified claims regarding the state of the Obamas’ marriage.

In an effort to steer clear of political discourse, Michelle Obama stated, “With everything going on in the world, we’re all looking for answers and people to turn to. My brother Craig and I launched the IMO podcast to create a space for people to come as they are, ask honest questions, give their opinions, and have thoughtful conversations about life.”

The duo plans to invite celebrity guests in future episodes, some of whom appeared on Obama’s previous podcast. Episode two will feature actress and producer Issa Rae, focusing on maintaining adult friendships.

Higher Ground, the Obamas’ media company, produces the podcast in collaboration with Audible, owned by Amazon. Michelle Obama’s move into the podcasting space sparks interest, especially among Republicans, due to her popularity as a potential political candidate.

Despite persistent speculation about a run for office, Michelle Obama has consistently rejected any ambitions to engage in politics. Her new endeavor as a podcaster, however, may ignite further discussions regarding her future political intentions, particularly as the Democratic Party anticipates guiding leadership.

New episodes of “IMO” will be released weekly, with a special live episode scheduled for SXSW in Austin, Texas, on March 13. With the podcast, Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson aim to create a dialogue that resonates with listeners and offers insights into their lives and perspectives.
