LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Michelle Yeoh reprises her role as Empress Philippa Georgiou in the upcoming TV movie “Star Trek: Section 31,” set to premiere on Paramount+ on Jan. 24, 2025. Directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, the film channels the campy charm of 1980s B-movies while delivering a high-stakes mission involving a doomsday device.

Georgiou, a former genocidal tyrant from the Mirror Universe, is recruited by Section 31, Starfleet’s covert black ops division, to lead a team of misfits on a critical mission. The ensemble cast includes a shapeshifter, a dim-witted cyborg named Fuzz (Sven Ruygrok), a microscopic organism piloting a robot (Robert Kazinsky), a seductive Deltan named Melle (Humberly Gonzalez), and a by-the-book Starfleet officer, Rachel Garrett (Kacey Rohl). Omari Hardwick plays Alok Sahar, the enigmatic Section 31 intermediary who offers Georgiou a chance at redemption.

Hardwick, a veteran actor known for his role as James “Ghost” St. Patrick in the Starz series “Power,” brings depth to the character of Alok. His career spans over two decades, with notable roles in films like “Sorry to Bother You” and “The Mother,” as well as collaborations with directors such as Spike Lee and Tyler Perry.

The film’s retro aesthetic and diverse cast aim to appeal to both longtime “Star Trek” fans and newcomers. “Section 31” explores themes of redemption and morality, as Georgiou navigates her dark past while leading a team of unlikely heroes. The movie promises action, intrigue, and the signature blend of humor and drama that has defined the franchise.

Paramount+ is banking on the film’s unique premise and star-studded cast to draw viewers. With its release just around the corner, “Star Trek: Section 31” is poised to become a standout entry in the ever-expanding “Star Trek” universe.
