Minecraft Movie Hits Home Release After $1 Billion Box Office Success

LOS ANGELES, CA — The highly anticipated film, “A Minecraft Movie,” has nearly hit $1 billion in box office sales since its release in early April. Now, fans can enjoy the adventure from the comfort of their own homes.
The movie follows four misfits—played by Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, and Sebastian Hansen—as they find themselves trapped in the Overworld, a unique world resembling the popular video game, Minecraft. They receive help from Steve, a crafter portrayed by Jack Black, who has been trying to find a way home for years.
Since its debut, the film has generated significant buzz and a loyal following, leading to its digital release on May 13. Viewers can now rent or purchase the film through various video-on-demand platforms, including Prime Video, for $24.99 to buy or $19.99 to rent.
The digital version will be stored in users’ accounts indefinitely, allowing for unlimited rewatching, while rentals can be started within 30 days and must be completed within 48 hours once initiated.
Directed by Jared Hess, known for films like “Napoleon Dynamite,” “A Minecraft Movie” combines imagination and humor in its storytelling. The film is rated PG for some violence, language, and occasional scary images, running for 1 hour and 41 minutes.
For those who prefer a physical copy, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that the movie will be available on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Steelbook on June 24, with pre-orders already open on several platforms.
