Minshew Named Raiders' Starting Qb For 2024 Season

The Las Vegas Raiders have officially named Gardner Minshew as their starting quarterback for the upcoming 2024 season, according to an announcement made by Head Coach Antonio Pierce this Sunday morning.

During a meeting with general manager Tom Telesco and offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, Pierce shared that the decision involved multiple factors and wasn’t just based on Minshew’s recent performances. He emphasized that Minshew provides the team a solid chance to get off to a fast start this season.

In the preseason, Minshew played well, completing 16 of 33 passes for a total of 212 yards and throwing one touchdown. Now entering his sixth season in the NFL, he signed with the Raiders after a noteworthy run with the Indianapolis Colts, where he earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2023.

Minshew’s record with the Colts showed impressive stats: he played in all 17 games, starting 13 of them, and completed over 62% of his passes, accumulating over 3,300 yards and throwing 15 touchdowns. People are excited to see what he will bring to the Raiders this season.

When asked about what led to the decision, Pierce highlighted Minshew’s experience in the league. He mentioned the importance of practice performance and overall presence on the field as key considerations in their choice.

“His personality, energy, and leadership are infectious,” Pierce praised Minshew. The team is rallying behind their new starting quarterback as they prepare for their season opener.

The Raiders are set to kick off their 2024 season in Week 1, and fans are looking forward to seeing Minshew lead the team as they aim for a strong start.
