Miss USA Noelia Voigt Steps Down from Crown to Prioritize Mental Health
Miss USA 2023, Noelia Voigt, has made the decision to step down from her crown to prioritize her mental health, announcing the news on social media.
Voigt, the first Venezuelan-American to win the Miss USA title in September, reflected on her journey representing the state of Utah and later the USA at the Miss Universe competition.
During her tenure, Voigt actively worked with organizations like Smile Train and advocated for various social issues including anti-bullying, dating violence awareness, and immigration rights and reform.
In an Instagram post, Voigt expressed gratitude for the platform she was given and the opportunity to make a difference on a global scale.
The Miss USA Pageant, previously owned by Donald Trump and now under new management, respected and accepted Voigt’s decision to resign, emphasizing the importance of the well-being of their titleholders.
A successor to Noelia Voigt is expected to be announced by the organization in the near future as they review plans for the transition.
Voigt, who had dreams of establishing her own interior design firm and hosting a TV show focused on home makeovers for families in need, also authored a children’s book addressing anti-bullying.
The Miss USA pageant, a longstanding tradition spanning over 70 years, has seen various changes in ownership, with former President Donald Trump selling the Miss Universe Organization in 2015 following controversial remarks.
Formerly associated with broadcasters like NBC and Univision, the pageant continues to be a prominent platform for young women to showcase their talents, advocate for causes, and make a positive impact in their communities.
