Australia‘s star fast bowler, Mitchell Starc, reached a significant milestone as he took his 350th Test wicket in a dominant performance against the West Indies at the Gabba.

Starc showcased his fantastic bowling skills, swinging the new ball early with excellent seam control. His deliveries left the left-handers and seared back in towards the righties, causing trouble for the West Indian batsmen.

By surpassing the 350 mark, Starc joins an elite group of Australian cricketers, including Lillee, Nathan Lyon, Glenn McGrath, and Shane Warne, who have achieved this feat.

Throughout the day, Australia’s fast bowling trio of Starc, Hazlewood, and Cummins created havoc for the West Indies batsmen. The visitors struggled to contain the onslaught and found themselves at 5-64 just before the tea break.

Joshua Da Silva and Kavem Hodge then formed a resilient partnership, frustrating the Australian bowlers. The duo maintained a strong stand, with no wickets falling during the second session.

However, Lyon eventually broke the partnership by dismissing Da Silva lbw for 79 runs. The partnership between Da Silva and Hodge was the highest against Australia since last year’s Ashes when Joe Root and Zak Crawley combined for 206 runs.

Following Da Silva’s departure, the West Indies experienced a batting collapse, with Hodge falling to Starc for his 352nd Test wicket. In the final over of the day, Alzarri Joseph entertained the crowd with a quickfire 32 before being caught by Steve Smith off Hazlewood’s bowling.

At stumps, the West Indies stood at 8-266, trailing Australia by 266 runs. The match promises an exciting continuation as Australia’s formidable bowling attack looks to wrap up the West Indies’ innings swiftly in the coming days.
