Monster Hunter Wilds Unveils Exciting First Free Title Update on April 4

LOS ANGELES, March 25, 2025 – Capcom announced today that the first free title update for Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on April 4, 2025, across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. This update introduces new challenges and content, highlighted by the return of the aquatic foe Mizutsune.
The update allows players who reach Hunter Rank (HR) 21 to engage in the Mizutsune hunt by speaking to Kanya at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp. Capcom described Mizutsune as a dazzling and dangerous creature that inflicts debilitating bubble attacks on hunters. Alongside Mizutsune, an eight-star Tempered version will also be available for advanced players.
“We are grateful for the community’s support since the launch, and we’re thrilled to bring new adventures to our hunters,” said Ryozo Tsujimoto, series producer. “This update not only adds new monsters, but also introduces features for enhanced gameplay experience.”
Hunters at HR 50 and above can look forward to confronting Arch-tempered Rey Dau, which will debut in an event quest on April 30. The Arch-tempered version offers greater challenges and rewards, including new Gamma armor sets upon capture.
The highly anticipated Zoh Shia will also return in High Rank. Previously available only once during the main story, hunters can now repeatedly battle Zoh Shia after the update’s arrival on April 4. Completion of a new mission at HR 50 will unlock this quest opportunity.
In addition to the new monster hunts, the update introduces the Grand Hub, a centralized social space where players can interact, communicate, and take part in a new Barrel Bowling minigame to earn rewards. The Grand Hub will be available for hunters at HR 16 and above.
The Festival of Accord: Blossomdance will begin on April 23, inviting players to enjoy seasonal festivities in the Grand Hub, with opportunities to earn limited equipment and cosmetic items.
Capcom also announced the introduction of Arena and Challenge Quests, including Free Challenge Quests, which allow up to four players without equipment restrictions. These quests provide players a chance to compete for the fastest clear times and rewards.
Additionally, players will have new customization options for Alma, the player’s handler, including outfits and access to classic gestures as downloadable content.
The development team hinted at further updates beyond Title Update 1, including ongoing collaborations with other Capcom titles and new features due out later this summer. “We’re excited about the future of Monster Hunter Wilds and encourage players to stay tuned,” Tsujimoto added.
