After an emotional appeal on social media, a mother is hoping to recover a significant item belonging to her son, who lost it at a recent Liverpool FC (LFC) game. Louise Higgins has been actively seeking the return of her son Luca’s beloved purple Liverpool scarf, adorned with numerous match badges, after it went missing following a West Ham cup game.

Luca Higgins, 12, from a yet unnamed location, has been an ardent follower of LFC since his first game in 2019. He has displayed his dedication by attending numerous matches, often in the company of his mother Louise and father Paul, where he amassed a collection of memorabilia.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Louise shared how Luca’s passion for LFC began. “I work for Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital,” she explained, “and one of the doctors, who was also LFC’s cardiologist at the time, got him a ticket.” She humorously recounted how Luca initially believed he could occupy the same seat for every game.

The scarf became a cherished item as Luca began attaching badges from each match he attended. “One of his first badges was given to him by Mighty Red, the LFC mascot,” Louise noted. Luca has worn the scarf to several significant games, including four finals at Wembley.

The disappearance occurred last Wednesday during the West Ham game when Luca accidentally left the scarf under his seat. “It’s quite heavy because of all the badges,” Louise explained. After realizing it was missing, they quickly retraced their steps but to no avail.

Despite an overwhelmingly positive response to Louise’s appeal on social media, where her post amassed thousands of shares and over a million views, the scarf remains elusive. “I didn’t think it would go this viral,” she admitted, though many have offered support and badges from other matches.

Louise’s heartfelt plea is driven by the sentimental value of the scarf, which she described as something Luca could one day pass down through generations. She emphasized the emotional attachment, “It’s worthless to whoever has it…but to him, it’s everything.”

The family plans to return to Anfield next Wednesday for the Champions League fixture against Bologna, hoping the scarf will be found by then. Louise can be contacted via her handle @LouiseH82447390 on X, formerly known as Twitter.
