MG Motor Unveils First Electric Crossover as MG Windsor

The excitement in the automobile world is palpable as MG Motor has officially named its first electric Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) the MG Windsor. The name pays homage to Windsor Castle, a symbol renowned across the globe.

In a recent announcement, MG Motor highlighted the MG Windsor as a fusion of luxury and utility. Satinder Singh Bajwa, the Chief Commercial Officer at MG India, expressed enthusiasm for the vehicle, emphasizing its advanced technology and aerodynamic design that blends the comfort of a sedan with the spaciousness of an SUV.

MG Motor, in partnership with JSW Group, is ramping up its presence in India after signing a joint venture agreement to drive growth in the Indian market. The new MG Windsor aims to celebrate the success of Indian athletes at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics, with a special gift of the electric vehicle to every Indian medalist, as shared by JSW’s Chairman and Managing Director, Sajjan Jindal.

As the Olympics unfold, Indian athletes have begun their medal tally with three bronze medals so far. The gifting of the MG Windsor EV is seen as a heartfelt tribute to their hard work and determination.

The MG Windsor is set to be MG Motor’s third electric vehicle offering in India and will be priced around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned between more affordable options and the premium flagship offerings, it’s expected to attract a diverse range of consumers.

Under the hood, the MG Windsor may share its powertrain with the Indonesian model, featuring a 50.6 kWh battery and a single motor capable of producing 136 PS with a claimed range of 460 km. However, official specifications for the Indian version are yet to be confirmed.

Get ready for a feature-rich experience, as the MG Windsor is expected to come with a 15.6-inch touchscreen, wireless phone charging, and multiple safety features like airbags and electronic stability control. An advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite might also enhance the driving experience.

The MG Windsor is anticipated to hit the market during the festive season, creating buzz among electric vehicle enthusiasts and consumers looking for innovative automotive solutions.
