MultiVersus Announces Final Season with Aquaman and Lola Bunny
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — MultiVersus, the crossover fighting game developed by Player First Games and published by Warner Bros. Games, will conclude its service with Season 5, set to launch on February 4, 2025, and end on May 30, 2025. The final season will introduce DC‘s Aquaman and Looney Tunes’ Lola Bunny as new playable characters, both of which will be earnable through gameplay.
Season 5 marks the end of MultiVersus’ online service, but players will still be able to enjoy the game offline. To access offline play, users must download the latest version of the game and log in between February 4 and May 30. After logging in, a local save file will be created, allowing players to continue using all earned and purchased content offline.
As of January 31, 2025, real-money transactions for in-game currency, Gleamium, have been discontinued. However, players can still use any remaining Gleamium or character tokens to unlock content until the end of Season 5. After May 30, the game will no longer be available for download on PlayStation Network, Microsoft Store, Steam, or Epic Games Store.
“We have an important update to share regarding MultiVersus,” the development team stated in a message to players. “After careful consideration, our next Season will serve as the final seasonal content update for the game.” The team expressed gratitude to the community, saying, “All of us on the Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games teams have poured our heart and soul into this game.”
Season 5 will feature a 70-tier Battle Pass, with Aquaman unlockable as the first-tier reward and Lola Bunny available as a daily login reward. The season will also include events and challenges, all of which can be completed through gameplay. Offline modes will remain accessible after the season ends, including solo play against A.I. opponents and local multiplayer for up to four players.
MultiVersus launched in 2022 to significant fanfare, peaking at 153,433 concurrent players on Steam. However, player counts dropped sharply in the following months, leading to a temporary shutdown in June 2023 for updates and improvements. Despite efforts to revitalize the game, it has struggled to regain its initial popularity.
For players who wish to continue enjoying MultiVersus offline, the development team advises downloading the latest version of the game and logging in before May 30. This will ensure access to all unlocked content and characters, including Aquaman and Lola Bunny, in offline modes.
